Jim was here to present to us about Canada. We saw the presentation and we had a lot of questions. We listened to famous Canadian music and we saw a ‘pow-wow’ festival (it is a festival that is celebrated by aboriginal people or First Nations of Canada). We saw Canada’s Womens and Mens hockey team win the gold metal from Vancouver 2010. WOO HOO !! We did this to learn more about Canada.

Have you ever been to Canada? What is your favourite thing to do in Canada?
Year 4 made the Magic School Bus lap books ( you can read all about them here). Year 4 invited year 3 to answer questions based on our projects. We did this to learn new things and challenge for year 3. We worked for many days to make the projects and then wrote questions for a scavenger hunt for year 3 .
We really liked the part of making the project and reading the book but we prefered the part when year 3 visited us!

How many Magic School Bus Books have you read? Which ones? Tell us in the coments.
Ladies and Gentlemen we did a project that was called Thanksgiving hand art! All of year 4 made one. First we traced our hand on paper, then we wrote on the hand. We used brown, green, orange, yellow and red paper. On each finger we wrote what we were thankful for. An example we were thankful for family, friends, water, food and school. We put our beautiful project ourside on the board and everyone can see our art. A pretty turkey at school. Our hands became the colourful feathers of the turkey.

What are you Thanksgiving traditions to celebrate? Tell us all about in the comments.
On August 31st year 4 made habitats models in science class. All of the class made one in small groups. The groups were: ‘the boys’ made a fox habitat, girls 1 made an octopus habitat, girls 2 made hippo habitat and group girls 3 a dolphin habitat.
We did the project to demonstrate that we know about habitats and because our science unit was about habitats.
Ana Bia, Mari and Bruna
Have you ever made a habitat model? If you did tell us about it in the comments. If no give it a try it is really fun.
Last Thursday we started our special art project in class. All year 4 students made it. First we all chose a picture of a Canadian landscape. Then using pencil we drew the landscape with lots of details. Then some of us coloured our landscapes. Some of us did not colour because they had so many details in their drawing. We made these pictures to prepare for the knowledge fair on Saturday. The knowledge fair is a presentation about an artist that we try to imitate and display. Our artist is Emily Carr. Emily Carr is a Canadian artist who paints aboriginal themed and landscapes paintings.
How you even drawn a lanscape? Which landscape did you draw? Tell us in the comments!
The Canada day trip was really cool. On July 1st we went to Copacabana, a place in Rio, to the Canadian Consulate. The office is in front of the beach volleyball stadium for the olympics.
We went there with year 2 and 3. When we arrived we had a snack. Their served us cookies and juice. There were 4 people from Canada. There was one man named Sanjeev Chowdhury, he quizzed us about Canada and the prices were pins. The pins we extra special even the teachers couldn’t have them! After the quiz we were divided into three groups to take a tour of the office. We were able to see the Sanjeev’s office. There we learnt a lot of things. For example, Canada is the second biggest country by land in the world and 4000 Canadians will travelling to Rio for the olympics.
Our 100th day of school was July 7th!! We celebrated in 3 locations of the school. In each location there was an activity to do. year 1 ,2 ,3 and 4 all participated. We made 3 groups mixing up the classes. The first activity was to make Fruit Loop necklaces by trying to put 100 Fruit Loops on the 100 chart and then on a string. Ms. D and Ms. P made the necklaces with the students in year 1 class. The second activity was to make a hat with 100 dots painted on it. Mrs. Siqueira and Ms. Flavia made the hats with us in the year 2 class. The third activity was to make a picture with 100 pattern blocks. Ms. B and Ms. A worked with the student to make the pictures in the playground.
On that day everyone was so happy! We all loved to celebrate out 100th day of school!
In P.E. we do lots of fun things. We play dodge ball, flag tag, octopus and Maple Bear rocks! Now we are training for our June Party. We are learning a dance to perform at our June Party. Our teacher’s name is Ms. T. She is so fun and we like her so much! She is a dancer, a ballerina. We do P.E. in the open areas downstairs beside the playground. We have a special dry fit uniform for P.E. We also do lots of exercises like yoga and warms up. Our favourite game is dodge ball we have played like 100 times.
Every Tuesday at 12:25 we have P.E..
We have P.E. because we love it! We like to run and it is apart of classes in school.
It is our favourite because we love to run and be active. We get to play lots of games and the teacher is fun! It is our favourite because we work so hard in other classes we need a break to run and move!
What is your favourite game or activity to do during physical education?
